Tips for Choosing the Right Accessories for Every Outfit

Costume jewelry adds a certain burst of flamboyant confidence in style or manner to any kind of outfit, really makes the outfit “pop.” I can feel this type of flamboyant confidence every time I wear a pair of my handmade dangle earrings. Just concentrate for a minute on that word “flamboyant.” Flamboyant means (of a person or their behavior) tending to attract attention because of their exuberance, confidence, and stylishness. This is exactly how I feel wearing my handmade dangle earrings. I feel lively, animated (and most of them are very colorful), vibrant, vivacious in a way like at no other time regardless of what else I am wearing with them.

There is something else rather comical and unique about wearing costume jewelry and that is watching the celebrities parade around in their emeralds about the size of a small child’s fist hanging from their ears and you can probably bet your bottom dollar, those emeralds are the real thing, unless of course, it is a celebrity who collects costume jewelry instead. The difference here is that when you show up at your office party wearing a pair similar, it is pretty much for sure they really are costume jewelry instead of the real thing, but what does it matter, if they look almost the same? The big difference is the price tag. There are actually very few people in this world who can afford the real thing. The rest of us can wear costume jewelry instead and look just as wonderful, and feel just as sexy and vivacious as well. Who cares if they don’t cost a fortune, if they look good and make you feel good while wearing them. Save your money for something else. People can look classy and elegant wearing costume jewelry just the same as those who wear the real things most of the time.

Then again, even those who wear the real thing sometimes don’t look elegant or classy either. Princess Diana might be about the only one who always did, but still yet, we can get costume jewelry that looks just as good as what she wore. People like her can afford to pay those high prices and still have money to burn. The rest of us got costume jewelry to create the exact same kind of look and feelings. Of course, there are also plenty of people who wear costume jewelry who do look cheap or tacky just like there are those who wear the real thing who looks tacky and cheap. And if you really think deeply about it, the first person you need to please is yourself regardless of how anyone else sees you unless of course something very valuable depends upon how you look at any given time. I wear my dangle earrings to the Y, turn my head from side to side and feel like I am 21 again. I might not look like I am 21, but the feelings are still there big time. I feel vibrant, alive and vivacious wearing my handmade dangle earrings, so that is what is most important to me, “how I feel.”

There are a few simple rules one can follow. One is “less is probably best,” whether you wear the real jewels or costume jewelry. The most beautiful ruby or diamond necklace and still look tacky if you also add on a huge cocktail diamond ring or a ruby ring instead, some kind of precious gem bracelet, earrings in both pierced holes in your ears, several more chains around your neck and so on. Less is always classier and more seems to turn out cheap looking regardless of how much you paid for all of it. Keeping things simple is best.

Looking classy or expensive while wearing costume jewelry also involves the size of the jewelry pieces you choose. Small and tasteful is usually better. Finding the right accessories can be tricky for a lot of people, and sometimes people will just go without accessories rather than look ridiculous. Where you are, the culture you are from also plays a role in how to accessorize. What body type you have plays a role in how to accessorize. Having the ability to properly accessorize for your body can make a big difference in the way you look. Don’t worry about the designers who are designing accessories for run way models. Just find what works best for you. The ultimate look you want to aim for is “balance.” It all boils down to balancing our body proportions appropriately.

Another important aspect of accessorizing to enhance your appearance is to focus upon accentuating he positive and getting rid of the negative. In jewelry accessories, that might mean drawing attention to huge hands by wearing several colorful bracelets. Black, tan or navy blue works well as simple accessory colors for just about everyone.

Harmonizing your clothes and accessories is also important. For example, a pair of dark green earrings might really go well with a lighter green pair of slacks or skirt. The golden rule still applies in that you should never overdo it, and you will never look cheap regardless of how much you pay for your real jewelry or your fake jewelry.

Paying attention to body shape and decide upon what colors or shapes and sizes works well with your outfits, keeping in mind that less is always better, then you should always have a happy ending when trying to choose the right accessories for your outfits.
