About Me

Hello, And welcome to Carmilitas Handmade Jewelry blog. I am a retired secretary from State of Indiana Government Offices. I started the job in Clarksville, Indiana, Services for Crippled Children in 1979 and retired in the year of 2000. I am also the first born daughter to a U.S. A. Army Soldier Veteran from the Korean War, born in 1956, three years after the peace treaty was signed in 1953. I have one daughter myself born 1974 and 2 grandsons. I mention my father here and in many other places to help keep his wonderful father memory alive "for me." And, he was very much an inspiration to me in many ways as I was growing up watching him enjoy many "quiet time" hobbies that I am sure helped to keep his mind alert and stimulated. He loved "solving things" such as puzzles and cross word puzzles he would find in newspapers. He often had the coffee table full of pieces of a puzzle he worked on in his spare time. We were a quiet family of 3 girls, mom and dad, who each found their own kind of hobbies and crafts to work on during long and cold winter days in the Midwest. As a child I learned to crochet from a book, around the age of 10 or so. I happily made doll clothes, doilies for the furniture, purses and baby blankets. Jewelry making came to me about 3 years ago. Thanks for visiting and come back often. I have several projects in mind to post here as articles and videos.

My Father, Ralph Stidham, age 16, just entered into the Army during the Korean War. He served 18 months on the front lines as a tanker. He was in the tanks on the front lines when they signed the “stop fighting treaty.” History tells us it was a lot the use of USA tanks that helped us overcome the adversities we faced in that war as North Koreans were not skilled at using tanks.
